Building Culture PLC is a sole-trader company registered in Stockholm focused on

  • applied research in the fields of architecture and urban design;
  • highly detailed architectural design; and
  • new methods of building construction. Current research: new methods of timber construction using round wood, new tools for urban design.

The company has a large-scale prototyping workshop in Södermanland County.

The company’s owner, Peter Lynch, is a researcher at KTH School of Architecture, Stockholm. He is a US registered architect licensed in New York State. He graduated from Cooper Union in 1984, apprenticed with Steven Holl Architects, and opened Peter Lynch Architect PLLC in New York in 1991. He was head of the graduate architecture department at Cranbook Academy of Art, Michigan, from 1996-2005. He has received a 2021 Vinnova grant for “Timescape Garden,” an ongoing project in Norrköping; a 2018 scholarship from Riksbyggens Jubileumsfond “Den goda staden”; a 2004-2005 Rome Prize Fellowship from the American Academy in Rome; a 2005 Progressive Architecture Award; a 2003 “Emerging Voice” Award from Architectural League of New York; and grants from AIA / AAF Fellowship for Advanced Studies or Research, the Michigan Technology Council, the Michigan Humanities Council, and the New York State Council on the Arts. He has taught at Harvard GSD, Columbia University, Rhode Island School of Design, The City College of New York, Parsons the New School, Dalhousie University, Penn State University (where he was 2015 Stuckeman Visiting Professor), and KTH (where he was guest professor from 2015-2021). From 1996-2012 he co-directed Metasus Design (Shenzhen and Hong Kong) with designer Ahlaiya Yung. From 2010-2014 he co-directed Lynch+Song, a Beijing studio, with architect Fangzhou Lydia Song.
